Tips and Tricks

The pay station accepts Visa/MC 24/7 using an automated pay station in addition to CFN cardlock.

Note that APP switched to a B50 blend for portions of winter 2005/2006. As of January 31, 2006, they have switched back to B99.

Using the Port of Tacoma Pay Station

The APP pay station is located in the center of the covered area. The current price can be found posted on the wall.

To use your credit card at the pay station, insert/remove your card as directed by the machine. It will think for a ridiculously long time before asking which pump you wish to use. Select the appropriate pump and proceed to your car to fill up.

Every so often, the pump may not re-set after you have used the pay station, and will not work. If this happens, go re-scan your card and it should work the second time.

If you wish to obtain a receipt for your purchase, return to the pay station after pumping and rescan your card. The machine will ask if you would like a receipt.

Using the Pump

At times, the pump will operate rather slowly at first. This apparently is due to cold weather or long periods of non-use. If this occurs, follow the directions on the posted notice to release the trigger and wait 20 seconds, after which the pump should operate at a normal speed.
